So, Master _ made a blessing sign and began his address. A
great silence ensued, an indescribable silence full of serene
expectancy whereby we perceived the united breath of the one
mind and the heartbeat of the one life. No words can convey
such a sense of spiritual expectancy which transcends the
physical body, raising us all to such a level of creative
tension. These were the words spoken by the Master, or at
least this was their general sense as I can perceive them in
my mind with an unusual clarity, as if really happening right
now:
"My friends: May peace be with you. You have arrived here from
many different parts of the world, some for the first time;
others have come several times. Some of you will perfectly
remember this spiritual experience; others will not be able to
do so because you still lack the necessary brain development.
Regardless, all of you, without exception, will sense the
Power that will be released here within a few moments. You
will be able to use that Power for your different activities
on behalf of the creative Plan.
Regardless of such details, which in no way diminishes the
effectiveness of the One Work to which all of us are pledged,
you have come here motivated by one purpose, SERVICE to our
brothers. It is, therefore, about this shared SERVICE that I
intend to speak.
For a very long time, the initiation chain of the transmitting
Agents of LIGHT has been woven by infinite bonds of creative
service to the Race. One rule has prevailed: Loving others and
earnestly desiring to meet their needs. The cyclic chain of
events, spiraling ever wider and higher in time, has
penetrated the consciousness of humanity, bringing ever more
profound insights about humanity’s destiny. But not everyone
has yet understood that the fulfillment of this destiny is
LOVE, and it is this shared LOVE that must save humankind.
When the spirals of this cyclic chain penetrate both the minds
and the hearts of everyone, a new type of human being will
come forth, a type representing, in space and time, the divine
Will, determining a new expansion of creative energy within
humanity. This new type of human being, a truly redeeming
ferment in the natural evolution of the races, is sounding and
reverberating a high NOTE in the Symphony of time. Thus, new
needs and opportunities arise and develop within the human
consciousness as a whole.
This NOTE is the NOTE of Initiation, barely audible to the
human ear. It is the NOTE of the divine Will creating the
powerful determination and the indomitable persistence to
overcome the hurdles naturally associated with the Quest,
becoming, in fact, "the Right Arm of the Law." Those who
resonate with this NOTE in their own lives enter, by natural
right, into the Great Current of Cosmic Friendship that we
call the "Path of Initiation" or the "Path of Return."
You have been convened by the basic impulse of this Ray of
Friendship, which is an eternal pouring forth of the Ray of
Love residing within the Lord of the World, so that you can
raise your vibration to the higher octaves of the Note of
Goodwill sounding out in the world. What is really expected of
you, then? Why are you here?
Without any exception, all of you have been able to reproduce
this NOTE in your minds and hearts, in the sublime beauty of
your different hues of activity. Your presence here is not by
chance, nor should it be interpreted as a reward for positive
spiritual attitudes held by you in the world. Your presence
here is a living proof of the Unalterable Judgment of the Law.
Conscious of it or not, you have joined the eternal Symphony
as each is attempting to attune his small note to the
intuitively sensed Great NOTE. Each one belongs to a different
and specific Ray of Power corresponding to a department of our
work in the world, a part of the creative Activity of the
Plan, as it is being developed within humanity and in the
whole of Nature. Each one is using his own methods or systems
of activity as each attunes his perspective to a defined
section of the creative work to which he or she is devoting
most of his or her efforts.
Thus, you do not come here to obtain a new sense of direction
in your work, but to improve the technique used so far, most
specifically to obtain renewed FORCE to accomplish your duty
in the world.
Some of you are well aware of our existence and of our WORK;
others have not even heard about us in the secular world;
either way, such awareness is of small import. Be advised that
we measure the Intention, not the Knowledge. Intention is
subjective and galvanizes your spiritual purpose; Knowledge is
objective, relating to worldly matters, and should be used
only to refine your working technique. Essentially, however,
all of you who are gathered here comprise, since the very
early stages, different levels of the Great Corporate Body of
Servers assisting humanity in its goals for unity and
perfection. Your presence here is evidence of a right that
absolutely no one can infringe.
The required orientation of your energies is accomplished
without any apparent effort on your part because the
intuitively sensed NOTE is your own characteristic Ray NOTE.
By that NOTE you came into being within the great current of
universal Life. Perfect friendship is the required and most
convenient technique for success during this great cycle of
crises and opportunities extant in the world today. Creative
service spontaneously appears when you create the great
channels for this impersonal friendship, free from
self-absorbing sentimentalism, providing life with a sense of
meaningful satisfaction.
This technique, fosters the appropriate conditions to
influence the world around you in a positive way and which, by
vibratory resonance, is directly impacting the heart of
humanity, must be supported, nonetheless, by the FORCE.
This technique fosters the appropriate conditions to influence
the world around you in a positive way and which, by vibratory
resonance, is directly impacting the heart of humanity. It
must be supported, nonetheless, by the FORCE. It is by this
Force, and by the Power of this Force, that the great
achievements for each Ray are realized and attained. Power is
the key to the resolve that leads to Liberation and to the
conscious immersion into the Great White Brotherhood's Plan.
Every member of this Great Fraternity is a true Server of the
Race.
Therefore, be advised that each time you attend these meetings
you are acknowledging and honoring the Force and the Resolve.
These two clarify your sense of orientation as you use your
working techniques. Without realizing it, by the very fact of
your serene expectancy, you are penetrating deeper into the
mysteries implied in the Initiation NOTE. Other things will be
given to you as well, for such is the Law. Receive, with love,
as much as you are able to assimilate of that Force, and pass
it on to the distressed humanity of today."
Master _ had finished His address and we all kept an inspired
silence. As He directed His gaze toward all the groups, each
one of us felt the intimate scrutiny of His penetrating
glance. Then, He seized a rod resting on top of the altar, a
golden rod with a scintillating reddish stone on one end. He
directed it at each one of us, while He and His companions
pronounced mysterious words of power. A very powerful force
flowed through our subtle bodies and, for a brief moment,
everything disappeared from sight leaving only a sense of
unity, of life and of common purpose, impossible to put into
words. It is the unity of everything with The All. The best
approximation that I can think of was white light,
concentrically projecting the seven basic colors of Nature.
A short time after the experience I just described, I was
consciously admitted to the Ashram.
This transcendental event, as far as my personal and spiritual
life is concerned, was preceded by several out-of-body
experiences with my friend R.. He prepared me for the
communication with the Master, providing valuable instructions
about the Ashramic life as well as some specific guidance
about my mental body, so that my mind could attune to the
great telepathic current that connects the disciples of the
Hierarchy among themselves and with their particular Masters.
When he had accomplished his objectives and after making sure
that I had correctly interpreted his instructions, he then
took me over to visit with the Master.
This first visit took place in the Master's own home, in ... .
The room was quite normal, as many others. The fire of His
Presence, though, suffused all the surroundings with an
unforgettable magical quality.
The Master welcomed me as an old friend and I felt in His
presence I was with someone I had always known and whose
friendship must last forever. His voice was musical, with
grave but exquisitely harmonious tones. I was pleasantly
surprised to realize that it was not the first time that I had
heard His voice, although I did not have a specific
recollection in my physical memory. I do not know how long I
stayed at His side. I only remember that His last words were:
"TRY TO REMEMBER AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND." Some time after the
visit, I was able to remember, indeed. Such recollection is
implicit in each phrase of this book, as it is by means of
these spontaneous recollections that I was able to put
together all the ideas and experiences that I have been
conveying to you.
My admission to the Ashram, after my first visit with the
Master, occurred after a small ceremony took place in which
He, after introducing me to my group-mates, instructed me,
directly and personally, about my specific mission and
functions in the Ashram, immediately providing me with some
specific personal instructions that would allow me in the
future to be "telepathically and immediately" responsive to
His requirements, according to the life of the Ashram. He also
mentioned the difficult conditions of my personal life, making
it clear that these were exactly the trials that had been
preparing and refining me for the transcendental spiritual
experiences that I was going through. He talked about the
courage and resolve of conscious discipleship. In very
reverent terms, He also referred to the Christ and to His work
as it related to the New Age of Aquarius and how all Ashrams
of the Hierarchy, without exception, were working toward this
same aim. He finally touched on the specific tasks that I was
responsible for if I could fully comply with the requirements
of the whole Work.
From my innermost being, I understood the ineffable value of
the Master's words and, since then, I have tried to carry them
out in my mind and in my heart to the best of my ability.
Finally, the Master, facing me as I was surrounded by the
other group members, solemnly requested, and His request
implied an inviolable commitment, to pledge myself to obey the
group law to its ultimate consequences and to declare if I
would thereafter live the life of discipleship, one of natural
discipline, spiritual order and indomitable resolve with which
to meet all people, events and life experiences. Without
hesitation, I affirmatively pledged my commitment and then the
Master, after a special blessing, admitted me into the Ashram.
The experiences after this formal admission to the Ashram will
be reflected throughout each and every page of this book.
Throughout these pages are more than just my own words about
the life of discipleship; you will be able to ascertain the
veracity of the facts and the ideas conveyed.
B. The Initiation of a
group member
Although I was apparently alone in that “place”
where the initiation of a group member was going to be held, I
was well aware, with almost absolute certainty, that many more
disciples and initiates from different Ashrams were “there.” I
was attending, and somehow participating, in the initiation
ceremony as it progressed. At first, in the early stage of
contact, I could not see anything except for many points of
light of different colors, symmetrically distributed, doing
and redoing geometrical patterns in the midst of flashes of
light which, like waves of universal life, were filling the
immensity of that “sacred place.”
However, as I looked toward the area where I
intuitively knew that the Hierophant should be
standing,
[Hierophant: the One
Who holds the Rod of Power containing the electric Fire at the
time of initiation; the One Who prepares, by means of magic
rituals, the subtle vehicles of the candidate for this
experience. The One Who administer the oath to the new
initiate pledging inviolable loyalty to the Lodge, the One Who
transmits the secrets corresponding to a particular
initiation, bestowed with certain words of Power, or creative
sounds, which open the Doors of new and higher states of
consciousness for the initiate, of a new plane or subplane of
evolution, with the conscious control over a specific group of
Devas working on these planes, as well as opening the vision
to a clear view of a specific part of the creative Purpose of
the Logos in order to know the part which he, as an initiate,
should partake in the fulfillment of such Purpose in his
personal life.]
I was able to clearly understand the He was the
Christ. For some time, during the period prior to the
ceremony, I was able to contemplate His shining countenance
silhouetted against a background of prismatic lights. Sometime
later everything disappeared; I was not able to see anything
at all, probably due to the fact that my inner vision did not
allow me yet to “penetrate” certain aspects of the sacred
ritual. I felt fully immersed, though, in the august secret
that was being revealed at that time and I could clearly see
my group brother, the candidate for initiation, as I attempted
to share, within the limitations of my own strength, the
infinite responsibility of these unforgettable moments. Once
in a while, I was able to swiftly survey the area where the
Christ was standing, joined by the two Masters sponsoring the
candidate, who was within the Triangle formed by these Three.
One of the Masters, the One on my right (as seen from my
viewpoint), was my Master, the Master of our Ashram; the
Other, Whose name I cannot reveal, was standing on my left
(again, relative to my viewpoint in that “place in time”). I
knew Him well for I had the high honor and infinite
opportunity to have met Him in the Ashram that I belong to.
His demeanor is rather unassuming but indescribably dignified.
In those moments, due to the extraordinary “tension” or
“expectancy” of the universal Mystery soon to be revealed, the
aura of both Masters shined with a very intense light. There
was a moment, though, as the ceremony proceeded, that
everything disappeared from my view. The field of my
perceptions was completely blurred. A light fully flooded this
“place” or area and yet, against the intensely lit background,
one could distinctly perceive the Light of the Christ, shining
so forcefully that the surrounding Light was somehow dimmed by
contrast. At times, I was able to see, not His shining
countenance, but the immaculate five-pointed star, the sacred
symbol of the Christ, representing the perfection of Man, the
union of the divine aspects of Will and Intelligence merging
in the Center of Infinite Love, the fusion of the two sacred
Sounds, the double OM and the triple AUM, eternally present in
the planetary evolution. My heart was deeply overcome by the
immensity of such indescribable Mystery of Union.
The Light emanating from the star of the Christ
was radiating with so much intensity that the light coming
from the sacred place during such transcendental ceremony
faded by contrast. I was able to directly understand then,
without intermediaries, the exact meaning the esoteric phrases
“To see LIGHT within the Light” and “Christ, the Light of the
World,” lost long ago in the labyrinth of mental
disquisitions. And my heart beamed with joy.
There was a high point during the initiation
ceremony when the Christ’s own Light faded in response to an
even greater Light. This Light “invaded” the area, taking over
it, endowing each spark of light released in the magical
ceremony, with an indescribable dynamism. This invasion of
fiery electrical power from Shamballa occurred right after
these sacramental words were uttered from the very center of
the star of the Christ, issuing forth the substance of the
Solar Word to the Highest: “FATHER, AM I DOING THIS IN YOUR
NAME?”. The immediate response was the appearance of a Circle
more brilliant than any possible LIGHT, as it radiated
directly from SANAT KUMARA Himself, the Lord of the World.
Through my limited perception, still quite
clouded by many layers of human flaws, the scene could be thus
depicted: The star of the Christ, with an intense bluish hue
at that time, was shining with indescribable intensity within
a circle of golden light, a circle whose intensity, beauty and
dynamism are beyond words. There was another moment, as the
ceremony approached its climax, when the golden circle
disappeared from my view to take the shape of a nine-pointed
star radiating, over the star of the Christ, the extraordinary
power of the fire from Shamballa.
I then understood the universal scope of
another esoteric phrase, present in all truly aspiring
disciples, and the source of so many and profound ponderings:
“At the Feet of the One Initiator, when we see His star shine
forth.” The star of Sanat Kumara, symbolic of His nine
perfections –as it is mystically referred to- pouring
the terrific power of the Electric Fire over the star of the
Christ, was the infallible and irrefutable evidence that the
candidate for initiation, our group brother, had been admitted
to the sacred Mysteries of the Great White Lodge of the
Planet.
What occurred afterwards went beyond my ability
for inner penetration, given that it was pertinent only to the
involved individual in his “sacred privacy.” He was being
assisted by the two sponsoring Masters as he received, through
the Christ, the infinite power of the relentlessly dynamic
energies of the Lord of the World.
This Force was transmitted, of course, by means
of the Rod of Power, an extension of the “Finger of the Lord”
–as it is referred to in the Old Commentary- instilling in the
initiate the Power of Eternal Resolve. The Masters sponsoring
our brother represented, as expressed in electrical terms, the
positive and the negative poles of an electrical current, at
the midpoint of which the initiate was able to keep his subtle
bodies in stable equilibrium in order to safely assimilate the
liberating but extremely dangerous force of the electric Fire
emanating from the planetary Deity. Meanwhile, a special group
of Devas protected the physical body of our group brother,
profoundly asleep “in the place previously chosen by the
Master.”
C. The Members of the Ashram
The Ashrams could be described as “places in
time.” Their existence is determined by the Law of Evolution.
A vague description such as a “place in time” may indicate
that these are not physical places. However, the fact that
Ashramic experiences can be remembered, implying some
perception, would mean that time exists even within the
confines of what we call the subjective worlds, although it
remains an unknown dimension for the vast majority of
humanity.
An Ashram is usually comprised by a Master of
the Hierarchy, some initiated disciple and a group of lesser
disciples, at different levels, who are receiving spiritual
training in preparation for initiation. The Master is at the
center of this subjective gathering. During the teaching
period, there is a mysterious telepathic rapport among each
and every member of the Ashram. The communications are
transmitted from mind to mind, although there is what may be
called the Master’s Voice and the attentive ear of the
disciples. This may sound contradictory but it is not so when
you realize that “things” in the subjective planes are
“objective” when you achieve some control over them.
Nor can I tell you where the Ashram is exactly
located. When we are prompted to go, then we go “there.” Such
“there” is a nebulous term for the concrete mind, as no
rational explanation can be provided for a place that is
neither concrete nor well defined. One could say that arriving
there is instantaneous. But it is not mysterious in the sense
of being inconceivable to the human mind in regard to the
things that happen there. There is a kind of veil regarding
the truths shared therein. The mind of the disciple receives
as much as it can assimilate and, although the Master’s Voice
speaks to everyone, each one just receives his own. This
avoids the danger of indiscretion, because “he who receives
the most is also charged with a renewed sense of
responsibility.” Please understand that I can only disclose
that which it is possible for me to say, enough to provide a
spiritual incentive to those aspirants in the Path ready for a
similar training. In the Ashram, there is a noble and faithful
comradeship that transcends, by much, the limits of the best
friendships in the personal life. A common interest convenes
this group of servers and an immense affinity for each other
brings their hearts together.
The Master always teaches on some defined
subject, always related to the Hierarchical Plan and about
specific ways to carry it out humbly, in the midst of the
circumstances that life has placed the disciple. One of the
basic requirements to receive the teaching is an intense
“expectancy” produced each time the Master speaks. Without
realizing it, all the power of the disciple’s attention is put
at the disposal of His words. Questions are rare, indeed,
because the higher mind is used in this system of esoteric
learning and spiritual training. When questions arise, these
are always of general interest and the Master Himself prompts
us to formulate them.
The entry and admission to an Ashram, and the
sharing in the mysteries of the light that constitutes its
life, is not a prerogative of privileged beings especially
endowed for this type of activity. It can in all honesty be
stated that all human beings have the same opportunity,
according to the Law that rules in the Ashram. One sole
requirement is exacted from all: the need to forget oneself in
the service of others. This duty carries with it many degrees
of responsibility, and its most reliable precursor in the Path
is the constant practice of goodwill. The development of
goodwill in action must restrain the urges and fulfill the
aspiration of the little self, as it prepares the disciple to
strive for greater and higher things in life. Such is, in
fact, the Path treaded by the wise ones of all times.
I can assure you that belonging to an Ashram
does not require special skills or extraordinary qualities
above and beyond common human beings, such as psychic powers,
great intellectual achievement or a high social standing. It
may be that some members of the Ashram have these
characteristics but these are not really considered essential
factors.
The Law prevailing in an Ashram is universal in
its application, ruling by clearly defined principles of
spiritual relatedness. This assumes a profound and keen
interest in world affairs; a sincere and earnest eagerness to
seek adequate solutions to world problems according to
principles promulgated by a higher will, aligned with cycles
of opportunity and with our own developing power of
observation in our personal life.
These statements are made so that those who
read this account are not surprised by the fact that, because
of birth, heredity or social determinants, the members of an
Ashram may lack the intellectual knowledge so highly valued by
human society. The intention that drives all members of an
Ashram is profoundly dynamic and spiritual. This intention
made it possible for me to attract the attention of the
Hierarchy and to be admitted to one of Its Ashrams in order to
receive spiritual training. The intellectual and strictly
informative mind, by itself, would never be able to penetrate
and access such advanced training.
D. The danger of knowledge
As stated by the Master once: “the Hierarchy
does not measure the degree of KNOWLEDGE among candidates but
their purity of motive and how steady is their spiritual
INTENTION.” Even granting that knowledge is valuable and
needed, because through knowledge truths can be transmitted
and precipitated from the spiritual realms, the higher purpose
or intention is preferable because it reflects the degree of
adaptation to the inner life and the possible service
effectiveness in the outer life.
A strictly intellectual approach to esoteric
knowledge, without a sound ethical or spiritual foundation,
may become extremely harmful and destructive because knowledge
implies power and responsibility; only right intention can
direct such knowledge to constructive ends.
It would be important to acknowledge the
existence --here in our planet and at this time, as they have
existed in the past and will continue to exist in the future,
as long as humanity is attracted to the selfish seeds of the
personality-- of some human beings who are profoundly learned
in esoteric laws and principles but who use this knowledge for
material and selfish ends, for their personal gain. These are
men lacking in “intentions or principles of spiritual order,”
so that their activity in the world is peculiarly
destructive, constituting a source of constant preoccupation
to the White Brotherhood of the Planet, Whose responsibility
it is to handle the power of spiritual Intention emanating
from sources beyond human understanding.
When the Master speaks about “intention”,
considering its qualitative value higher than “knowledge,” He
is precisely referring to this essential truth. He is also
clearly referring to the existence in our planet of an
organized Evil Lodge opposing God’s Plan and whose members,
usually more intelligent than most of the spiritual aspirants,
promote the seeds of hatred and destruction within the
organized society we live in. We must consider this factor
when the life of discipleship --disciples of the spiritual
Hierarchy-- is analyzed and as we address their “karmic
difficulties.” We must specifically address this process of
“struggles and temptations,” as their cause may be found in
that Evil-generating Center, in that shadowy side of life
taken up by those who “know” but, lacking in (good) Intention,
do not “understand;” by those who attack society and its
constituents, frantically seeking to grasp esoteric facts and
the deeper truths of life, but in a cold and scheming way,
completely lacking in brotherly love.
E. Hierarchical assistance
Hierarchical assistance to the members of an
Ashram, from the spiritual perspective, may take many forms as
it reaches out to each personality in the context of the role
each one plays in the society and the service that each member
renders to others and to their environment. However, prominent
among the traits typical of a disciple affiliated to an Ashram
is a powerful magnetism in his spiritual and etheric aura, as
it is constantly being nourished from the pure life stream of
the Ashram by mysterious rays of fraternal love, commitment
and friendliness. These three words indicate the typical
qualities of a New Age disciple and inevitable lead to
creative service. Therefore, anyone who, regardless of his or
her social standing and wordly culture, feels deep inside the
powerful heart beat of the spiritual intention and is able to
express such power in terms of these three aforementioned
qualities, is, in fact, already creating within himself the
anchoring point of light to receive the energies of the
Hierarchy.
F. The Master and the
universality of His work
We must focus our attention mainly on the
Master at the Center, Guide and Mentor of the Ashram.
Naturally, due to some hermetic rule it is not possible to
disclose the identity of the Master of the Ashram, nor His
usual responsibilities in the world. I can say, however,
because I have His consent, that He has an European body and
that he travels much throughout the Old continent. Nor can I
disclose His specific functions in the Lodge; these correspond
to states of consciousness and “dimensions closed to the
common and normal perception.”
The Master, if we could get rid of the undue
mystery which esoteric treatises of old have burdened us with,
is really a Friend, an approachable Being we can always truly
trust. He comes down to us, knows each and every reaction of
ours; He knows us better than we know ourselves. This means
that He is fully aware of our human understanding and our
possibilities. Therefore, He knows our specific needs for
teaching, suited to our particular state of consciousness, so
that we can fulfill our spiritual purpose. There are also
wonderful karmic relationships of which we gradually become
more aware, a karma related to previous lives, but also a
universal karma related to the Ray and the service rendered
which involve certain Lives in the Ashram Whose activities are
beyond human comprehension.
Limiting myself to the most concrete and
immediate aspects, although always aligned with esoteric
principles, I must indicate that an etheric light streams
forth from the life of a disciple in physical incarnation, a
trail of light colored by the qualities of right intention and
service, immediately made visible to the One Who must prepare
him for the Path of Initiation. The words from Light on the
Path, "when the disciple is ready the Master is ready
also” may be found most applicable here.
Considering in greater detail this spiritual
principle of karmic relationship by which the Master
recognizes the disciple and makes it possible for the disciple
to gradually approach Him, His Ashram and the Hall of Wisdom,
we could add that, from the invocative depth of a disciple, a
cry springs forth one day, a desperate call for redemption.
This cry, representing the characteristic note of his egoic
ray, as yearned and sensed in premonition by the personality,
becomes in fact the very same light whose trail can be tracked
throughout many lives and deaths by He Who is, for the
disciple, a true “light and hope of Glory.”
I remember perfectly well my first conscious
contact with the Master. This memory will live forever in my
heart. His words were engraved with Fire. Since then, I know
perfectly well what is my purpose in life, as well as my
profound responsibility regarding Him, the law of the Ashram
and my fellow group members.
G. My brother R. and my fellow
group members
My first contact with the Master occurred after
many conscious out-of-the body contacts were made with my
brother R., the Indian initiate who I have already referred
to. I could say a lot about R, but I must exercise restraint
in talking about him because the slightest indiscretion on my
part could make him easily recognizable and could derail the
work that he does in his country, even make it fail. I can
disclose, though, that R. holds the position of highest
responsibility after the Master. When the Master is absent, R.
takes His place in the Ashram.
His words are quite simple though ineffably profound.
Brother R. prepared my mind and heart for the
indescribable contact with the Master. This preparation lasted
for several years and I had to struggle throughout this long
period with very hard circumstances of karmic nature. The most
powerful of these karmic obstacles could be eventually
overcome and my higher mind could then tear the veils blocking
my spiritual vision. R. was also instrumental in developing
some latent spiritual faculties in me which were
extraordinarily useful to recognize my particular mission, the
specific quality of the Rays with which I had to work in my
future tasks and the people whom I needed to associate with in
order to do my work in my specific field of service.
Also,
there are the disciples like myself who are being subjected to
spiritual training in the Ashram. The bonding affection among
us cannot be measured in common terms because it transcends
normal understanding. There is no disagreement whatsoever
among us regarding the basic and fundamental intention. There
is only acceptance of specific personal traits that begin to
flourish in the Ashram “for the greater glory of God.”
These Ray qualities or attributes do not evoke
reactions, as usually happen in the hectic exchanges of human
qualities still ruled by the “great heresy of separativeness,”
but rather evoke a harmonious equilibrium. These diverse
qualities provide a distinct color to the Ashram as it relates
to the rest of the Hierarchy. Seen from a spiritual
perspective, beyond and above the usual human perception, the
Ashram appears as a twelve-petal flower with a very bright and
radiant light emanating from a central bud of an intense
bluish hue, projecting this light on each of the twelve petals
so that their joint colorfulness expresses a very special and
unique beauty. It could be understood as a typical expression
of the Rays and their specific qualities, with the Master
representing the pure and radiant Life emanating from the
center and the “twelve petals of varied colors” representing
the vibratory qualities of the personal lives of the members
of an Ashram. The Hermetic Law of Analogy can be fully applied
here.
H. Schematic membership of the
Ashram
Considering now concrete and practical matters,
I will outline the membership of the Ashram as it currently
exists. I will refer to the members by the initials of their
names in alphabetical order, without implying the hierarchical
status in their functions in the Ashram. I must say that in a
regular meeting long ago, I sought and obtained permission
from the Master and my fellow disciples to make reference to
them in my writings. The idea was found acceptable and fared
well. It was agreed that terms such as Hierarchy, Master,
Initiate and disciple should be clarified and presented as
natural and current concepts not far away from the life
experience. In a more recent meeting of the Ashram, I was able
to read my work and after minor changes were made, as
suggested by the Master, final permission was granted to
publish it.
The outline of the Ashram is:
The Master.
1. B. Relatively young, an excellent North
American writer.
2. C. Catholic missionary, mentioned in the
South American journal “Conocimiento” (March, 1970). As he
died, his position in the Ashram was taken by Di., a South
American disciple who for a long time had been directly
supervised by the Master. I have met her in the physical
plane.
3. D. Protestant preacher. British. The oldest
in the Ashram. I have met him in the physical plane.
4. E. Bank administrator. Swiss. Retired. I
know him in the physical plane.
5. F. Former agriculture worker. Great speaker
from
Rhodesia; very influential
against Apartheid. Black race. Has moved from Rhodesia.
6. L. Quaker youth. North American. Works in
the United Nations. I have met him in the physical plane.
7. P. Manual labor. Italian. Highly developed intuition.
8. R. Government worker. India.
9. Rd. Hungarian. Former professor in an institution of higher
learning. Disembodied.
10. T. A well known scientist. I cannot disclose his
identity.
11. V. Business man. Spanish. Collaborates with esoteric
organizations.
12. Blind youth. French. Great psychic powers.
Given this outline, reflecting a similar
composition of other Ashrams in the Hierarchy, you can realize
that all fields of human endeavor are included in this
spiritual approach seeking a unified collaboration. The
redemption of the planet is the purpose for which all members
of the New Group of Servers of Humanity actively work, as
represented in all Ashrams by well defined human traits. The
most important factor is the efficacy of joint effort, the
unity of purpose and intention that blends the diversity of
personal characteristics of its members. It could be said that
such unity of purpose is determined by the Ray of the Soul or
the Higher Self of the Ashram members, whereas the human or
personal traits are determined by the personality Ray, that
is, the integrated concrete mental, emotional and physical
bodies.
This simple statement, however, entails two
profoundly esoteric facts:
a) that it is a Second Ray Ashram, because
the spiritual Soul of its members belong to this Ray and it
is through the higher or egoic mind that the corresponding
teaching and training systems are transmitted;
b) that the Master Who is preparing us for initiation is an
Adept Whose Monad belongs to the Second Ray.
The life of discipleship and the effectiveness
of his or her work consist of transmitting all higher
impressions received from the Ashram into the abstract mind
and to the physical brain through the activity of the concrete
or intellectual mind. It is of interest to keep in mind this
transmission process in order to understand the diverse
qualities and attributes of the disciples in the world who,
like all human beings, need to keep handling their affairs in
the world, with the typical struggles and afflictions.
The disciples do not carry a “bright star on
their foreheads” to be recognized by others, although,
esoterically speaking, this old mystical phrase is much
related to the “light in the head” of the wise and the
“radiant aureole“ of the mystics. Only by their fruits are
disciples recognized and, even then, their apparent simplicity
deprives them of this natural recognition by over-intellectual
minds.
I.
Disctinctive qualities of my fellow group members
According to the principle, “You Shall Know Them by Their
Fruits,” let us now describe the personal life of my fellow
disciples in the Ashram.
Let us consider the case of our friend P., an Italian. He
works as a mechanic and is, in many ways, a very humble man.
However, those who meet him can realize, consciously or not,
the extraordinary radiation coming from his spiritual aura. He
is exceptionally gifted in psychological perception and his
accurate impressions about people could be scientifically
validated if research studies were conducted. No one but him
in the Ashram, except the Master, of course, can ascertain by
simple perception the deep crevices of the human soul. He is,
therefore, a real asset for the work of the Hierarchy where he
lives. He also has unusual gifts of receptive telepathy.
Speaking in spiritual terms, he is extremely persuasive and he
has helped many to firmly penetrate the Path. His simple
words, without excessive formalities, are powerfully inspired
by the strength of the Word. The secret of his power, as
described the Master, lies in his exquisite simplicity and
humility, as well as his loving disposition toward others. It
is a real privilege, always from an occult perspective, to
make contact with brother P. on the physical plane, for he
always has the right word and the wise advice for any personal
problem of daily life.
About brother T., he is a very unique individual. He is deeply
involved in scientific research, in command of rather powerful
resources, for a country that I cannot reveal. He has an
incredibly gifted concrete mind, so well trained for
mathematical formulations, despite belonging to a Second Ray
Ashram, the Ray of Love-Wisdom. For those really interested in
the study of the Rays, we should say that the concrete mind of
brother T. is ruled by the Fifth Ray of scientific expression.
This explains, in part, his prodigious constitution. However,
the fact that his Higher Self is of a Second Ray nature and
that he is receiving spiritual training in a Ashram ruled by
the Second Ray, provides an absolute guarantee that his
scientific endeavors and all his scientific work will always
be devoted to the good objectives of peace and harmony in the
human race.
Our sister Di. She is a lady whose main objective in life has
always been the investigation and study of the esoteric laws
related to time cycles and modern astrology. She is strongly
influenced by the constellation of Aquarius because of her
previous spiritual activities and her contributions are highly
valued in the Ashram. As previously stated, she had been under
supervision for a long time. Because she passed with high
marks the preparatory tests and could subsequently assimilate
the lessons of the ensuing crises, she was admitted as an
active member in the Ashram since the time when C. made his
transition. C. had to spend some time in his devachan
stage of consciousness, leaving the vacancy filled in by Di.
Despite her recent admission, she has the qualities shared by
old souls: goodwill, service and sacrifice.
Regarding Z., our blind French brother, his life of service is
remarkably fruitful. Despite his physical blindness, Z. has
fully developed his “spiritual eye,” as well as his special
healing faculties. These healing faculties deserve the
attention of researchers in the scientific field of medicine.
Our brother Z. does not live in France. However, I cannot
disclose his actual residence, although the information shared
so far may provide some hints to those who, with pure motive,
may feel a spiritual urge to make inner contact with him.
In regard to R., as has been previously stated, he has the
powers of a true initiate and no one else in the Ashram but
the Master, is aware of the secret power of mantrams for
invoking the devas and the etheric creatures living in
Nature’s elements.
Brother L. is a young initiate, the youngest, physically
speaking, of the members in the Ashram. He is North American
and works in a department of external affairs at the United
Nations in New York. He is a true “point of light and love” in
this center of world activity and he constantly receives from
the Master the inspiring Hierarchical energies needed for his
specific work.
Regarding E., our Swiss brother, it is of interest to note
that his social standing is quite high where he lives. He is
wealthy (in the material sense) but his wealth is not a
hindrance to be a member of an Ashram of the Hierarchy in
order to receive training for initiation. The Christian saying
that “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a
needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” does
not apply to him. Nor can we ascertain if Christ was referring
only to material wealth in such words, as His unique universal
mission endowed His words with a precise meaning and,
therefore, all possessions --material, emotional and mental--
should be included in the meaning of this phrase. We could say
that E., who is a simple, fair and honest man in whose hands
the material wealth becomes a living stream for a higher
purpose, can make it flow through him like a river of
spiritual energy for the benefit of the many, socially
speaking.
Maybe the most interesting member of the Ashram, regarding the
ideas shared so far, is brother Rd. He is the only one in the
Ashram without a physical body. He made his transition several
years ago in Hungary. He was a professor in an institution of
higher learning, but his unique service activities were not
limited to the field of education. No matter how
significant his contributions were to this field, his loving
nature left many fond memories in those with whom he made
contact and who still value these memories as a treasure. He
was an outpost of the Hierarchy, although he was not fully
conscious of his mission in regard to some movements of social
activism then. The quality and efficacy of his work,
which will be better appreciated in a not so distant future,
were truly inspiring and fully instrumental, as seen from the
inner Hierarchical perspective of the Plan. I cannot disclose
more details about the specifics of his mission, except to say
that brother Rd. is getting ready, under the direct
supervision of the Master, for a similar task, although of far
greater importance and of more world significance than the one
he accomplished before.
Brother F., whose physical body is of the Black race, is a
farmer of old and an outstanding speaker. He has fought and
still fights against racial segregation in the world. He is a
man of vast culture, a thorough universalist, and he is
affiliated with some pacifist organizations, some of them
directly related to the specific mission of the Master in the
world. He is fully aware of his link to the Ashram and knows
exactly the assertive value of the spiritual words: “to
convince without binding and to appeal even without
convincing.” It must be emphasized that for F., as is the case
for all other members of the Ashram, his work is mainly
inspired by the Love Ray of the Lord of the World through
Christ, the Avatar of Love in our planet.
Brother D. is British and works as a protestant minister
(pastor) somewhere in England. He is, symbolically speaking, a
shepherd (pastor) of souls. The field of service chosen by
him, according to some karmic circumstances, offers a unique
environment for his devoted service. He is the oldest,
physically speaking, in the Ashram.
Brother B. is North American and he urged us not to mention
him in this account because he is socially well known and did
not want any hints that would reveal his identity, neither in
his immediate nor in his more distant environment.
About me. I will say nothing, of course, regarding my personal
things. My only wish is to describe a picture, as simply and
as faithfully as possible, of the fraternal laws of life. I do
not wish to call attention on me under any circumstance.
Having accomplished the goal of externalizing the inner life
of an Ashram, and having provided some information about the
personal traits of its members, it only remains for me to say,
according to the universal great law of analogy and the occult
words issuing forth from the living testimony of the wise ones
and the spiritual knowers of all times, that an Ashram is a
conscious nucleus of the living and loving power of the
Hierarchy; that one of the great concerns of the Masters of
Wisdom and the Initiates of all degrees is to EXTERNALIZE the
truth regarding the fraternal groups in the New Age, weaving
the widest channels for the expression of Universal Love,
replacing this Iron Age that we are still unfortunately
experiencing here on Earth --under the rule of hatred, fear
and ambition-- with the Golden Age of right human relations,
nourished by the men and women of goodwill and the pure
intentions of their souls.
